“Measuring Inequalities in Coverage of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health Interventions” was the title of the first Countdown to 2030 Regional Hub Workshop convened in Medellín, Colombia, from October 18-22, with 21 participants from 10 LAC countries (Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru) and 2 participants from Mozambique. The workshop was organized by the International Center for Equity in Health (ICEH), where the CD LAC Regional Hub is based, and hosted by the Faculdad Nacional de Salud Publica, University of Antioquia.
The workshop agenda included estimation and quality of coverage indicators, concept of health equity and inequalities, measurement of inequalities, assessment of inequality trends and the role of mapping of policies and financing. All the documents used during the workshop are available in Spanish only, here. It was a highly productive week with strong interaction among participants, resulting in the launch of a network to allow for the work to continue beyond the workshop. The mix of countries and languages was highly rewarding, and the beautiful setting in Medellín made all the hard work worthwhile.
