One of four African countries that were added to the Countdown to 2030 initiative in 2024, the Somalia country collaboration includes the Ministry of Health and  School of Public Health at the Capital University of Somalia. It aims to strengthen the analysis and synthesis of health data to inform national and local reviews of progress and performance in the context of the national health plans and Global Financing Facility (GFF) investment case for reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health and nutrition (RMNCAH+N). The project focuses on enhancing the evidence on for whom and where improvements have been made in a range of key RMNCAH+N outcomes and indicators.

Background

The current Somali RMNCAH Strategic plan is accordingly aimed at consolidating the delivery of essential RMNCAH interventions across the board by strengthening the PHC mechanisms and providing universal health coverage consistent with a human rights-based approach. It will encompass all the four tiers of the Somali health care system including primary health care units; health centers; referral health centers/district hospitals and regional hospitals.
