Background

The Madagascar team at Countdown's annual meeting in 2025.

The national Countdown to 2030 partnership in Madagascar is led by the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), in close partnership with the Ministry of Health. The project aligns with Madagascar’s RMNCAH+N investment case to select eight priority regions for targeted activities: Anosy, Atsimo Andrefana, Atsimo Atsinanana, Ihorombe, Melaky, Menabe, Vatovavy, and Fitovinany.

The collaboration aims to improve the analysis and synthesis of health data to support national and regional reviews of progress and performance in the implementation of the national RMNCAH+N plan. To promote national ownership and alignment with the country’s priorities, the project focuses on strengthening the capacity of technical staff and national institutions involved in the health information system (HIS) at all levels, from national to regional.
