Countdown Holds a Maternal Health and Immunization Indicators Dissemination Meeting in Zambia

On January 31, 2025, the Countdown to 2030 Zambia Country collaboration team, which includes representatives from the Ministry of Health Zambia and the University of Zambia School of Public Health, held a maternal health and immunization indicator coverage in Zambia, dissemination meeting in Lusaka, Zambia.

The team shared results on how routinely collected data can be useful when adjusted with the right estimate denominators to track and monitor the progress of reproductive, maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health and immunization target indicators.

“We do not have to wait for five more years for the next DHS data to see how RMNCAH indicators are performing; we can see that when adjusted correctly, this routinely collected data is useful to drive investment, planning, and financing in real-time. So let’s invest in-country capacity in data use and demand at all levels,” Choolwe Nkwemu Jacobs, Countdown to 2030 Zambia Country collaboration team lead, emphasized.

The dissemination fostered a rich discussion on how Zambia’s quality of routinely collected data can be improved to see who is being left behind and why.

The dissemination drew targeted key stakeholders from the Ministry of Health Zambia, UNICEF, UNFPA, and PATH Zambia, among others.
