November 4-8, 2023, Countdown to 2030 project team participated in the Kenya Health Sector Strategic Plan 2018–2023 (KHSSIP 2018-2023) end-term review in Naivasha, Kenya.The review was focused on an analytical review of all relevant data available on service coverage, utilization, and access.
The Ministry of Health steered this exercise that involved participation of multiple stakeholders at National and county levels including enabling Ministries, professional bodies, civil society organizations (CSO’s), private sector representatives, NGOs, Development partners and academic and research.
Findings from this evaluation are intended to assess the changes in the health outcomes that can be attributed to the implementation of KHSSP, Universal Health Coverage (UHC) Roadmap and Primary Health Care strategy at all levels.
Key outputs from the one week review exercise included; a finalized clean data sheet, strengthened capacity of National and County MOH staff to conduct data analytics, data analytics outputs- graphs, pie charts, maps, tables etc and a zero-draft statistical report.
The Kenya Health Sector Strategic Plan 2018–2023 is the second such five-year plan for implementation of the Kenya Health Policy 2014–2030. It is premised on the need to accelerate the achievement of UHC and incorporates the priorities and targets of the Sustainable Development Goals and the African Union Agenda 2063.
